‘Untitled – smoke damage’ .

‘Untitled – smoke damage’ is formed of two paintings face to face and leaning against a wall. My tutor at the Central, David Haughton, died as a result of a fire in his flat, from which these two smoke damaged paintings were retrieved. The ashtray has significant personal meaning but also marks the fact that the fire was probably caused by a discarded cigarette.

This was exhibited (along with 'Marsyus' and 'Some you show, some you throw away' in the 'Modern Makers IV: Sculpture' exhibition, organised by Second Floor Studios, at the Thames-Side studios in June 2016.
